Waiheke Collective Hui

  • Waiheke Resources Trust 1A Mako Street Waiheke Island, Auckland, 1081 New Zealand (map)

Collective Spotlight - Responsible pet ownership has been a recurring hot topic in our Collective hui's! So for this session, Dr. Imogen Basset from Auckland Council was invited to share her insights and expertise in this space.

In this session, Imogen outlined Auckland Council's approach to cat management, and the wider national context, including strategies for managing different classes of cats (companion and unowned cats). She will also be available to discuss strategies for effectively promoting behaviour change to increase rates of responsible cat ownership behaviours.

Imogens presentation here.

Dr Imogen Bassett is Principal Advisor Biosecurity at Auckland Council. Imogen led the development of the council's Regional Pest Management Plan, during which consultation cats were a hot topic of interest. Since then, Imogen has been putting lessons learned from that process to use alongside social science research, to support community conservation groups to tackle this topic effectively.
